Project description
This Research Project is a continuation of the previous PDI (AL 15 PID 32), approved and granted after application: ced5a584-5714-4ba6-b676-b4ca6b29721c, made for ‘Aid for Activities with Latin America’, through the Rectoral Resolution of 11th November 2014, by the ‘Universidad Politécnica de Madrid’ (UPM). This opens up a new opportunity to continue the still unfinished tasks that were initiated under the budget allocated under the previous award.
The new application aims to further the study and consequently the knowledge of geological formations where volcanic materials and sedimentary volcanos with pozzolan properties lie, located in the Holguin region, Cuba. This project proposes to value these raw materials for their industrial processing in cements, mortars and concretes, which can then be used for building low-cost social housing for the inhabitants of the local area, who have been badly affected by hurricanes over the last three years.
