Geophysics Prize
García-Siñeriz
2014 / 2015
Regulations:
First
A prize of 9,000 Euros will be awarded to the best Doctoral Thesis in Pure or Applied Geophysics, at Spanish or Latin American Universities.
Second
All those Graduates and Engineers who defended their Doctoral Thesis during year 2014 will be able to attend.
All candidates will submit, together with the thesis, an accreditation from the Dean or Director of the Centre in which it was carried out.
Third
The deadline for submission of the work is June 26th, 2015.
The application will be submitted. including the application form (available on the Website), together with a complete and bound copy of the thesis, a summary of the application with an extension (not exceeding five A4 sheets) as well as a PDF version and the corresponding certifications.
Fourth
The prize is indivisible and if no suitable winner is found, it will not be awarded.
Fifth
The jury will be made up of members of the ‘Board of Trustees’ of the ‘J. Garcia-Siñeriz Foundation’ and renowned scientists belonging to the universities and research centers of Spain. Their choice will be made according to the research carried out in the doctoral theses presented, provided that they were not involved in the theses as tutors.
The panel shall be chaired by the President of the ‘J. Garcia-Siñeriz Foundation’ or a delegate of his choice who will act as Secretary of the Foundation.
Sixth
The criterion to be applied by the panel shall be based on the scientific or technical quality of the work. The decision will be taken by a vote.
Seventh
The panel's ruling, which is final, will be released by October 30, 2015.
Eighth
All applicants undertake and accept that the documentation submitted becomes part of the ‘J. García-Siñeriz Foundation Library’, where it can be consulted and reproduced.
Ninth
The works must be written in Spanish, Portuguese, or English.
Tenth
The theses and accompanying documentation shall be forwarded to the following address:
