QUALITY POLICY AT THE ETSIME-UPM
The Quality Policy at the ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid’ (ETSIME-UPM), is defined by its basic underpinning elements: who we are, what we want at the moment (Mission), how we want to achieve it (Values that we want to transmit), and where we want to see ourselves in the long term (Vision). This also includes our stakeholders, allies, and other agents involved in the task.
MISSION, VISION AND VALUES OF THE ETSIME-UPM
MISSION
To train Engineers in the fields of Energy, Geology, Metallurgy, Mining, and Environmental Engineering, providing high quality education, that imparts the required standard of knowledge and also responds to the needs of the society, not only through the transmission of knowledge but also by demonstrating its commitment to social progress.
VISION
In the medium-term future ETSIME-UPM will be developing as a center in the following areas:
In the field of Training:
- Offering competitive undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, that are in line with societal demands, and a continuous development program that is accredited not just across Europe, but also globally, through recognized accreditation bodies in the engineering sector.
In the field of Research:
- Promoting research activities, encouraging active engagement and participation from teachers and students in UPM Research Groups, carrying out research projects, and cooperating in national and international development and/or exchange programs.
In the field of Human Resources:
- Having qualified teaching staff, able to establish connections between their teaching and research activities, and the ability to transmit this to their achievements in educational training and innovation programs, in scientific production and technological transfer, and in development cooperation.
Likewise, having professionally trained Administration staff, able to provide the required support for the achievement of the objectives of the School, because they understand their functions and can perform them well, as an integral part of the team.
In the field of Material Resources:
- Efficiently managing resources and promoting actions that improve the sustainability of the Center. In addition, having facilities such as the library, classrooms, laboratories, work rooms, or dining rooms etc., functioning according to the required standards of quality, safety, accessibility, occupational health, and respect for the environment.
In the Services area:
- Developing policies aimed at the continuous development and updating of teaching, research, and service infrastructures, as well as the incorporation of cutting-edge technologies and innovative programs that are relevant to the activities of the Centre.
In the field of Societal Transfer:
- Participating in a wide social network through partnership agreements with institutions and companies involved in Mine, Energy, Geology, Metallurgy and Environmental Engineering.
In the field of Quality:
- Promoting excellence in teaching and research, by developing and implementing Improvement Plans that are systematically revised and corrected.
