The Subdirectorate for Business Relations and Employability of the Higher Technical School of Mining and Energy Engineers assumes within its competencies those of Quality, therefore, the correspondence with this general coordination, the strategy and the maximum representation facing the outside.
In addition, the Quality Unit is composed of an Assistant for Quality and Accreditation under the Assistant Director, as well as a Quality Technician.
Structure of the Quality Unit of the E.T.S.I. of Mines and Energy (UPM)
The Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC) (Sistema de Garantía Interna de la Calidad) at the ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía’ (ETSIME-UPM)
It is a set of interrelated elements through which the quality of the qualifications taught at ETSMIE-UPM are managed in a controlled manner, as well as the satisfaction of all stakeholders, both external and internal.
The defining objectives of the SGIC can be highlighted as follows:
- To achieve a quality of training, whose purpose is the preparation of our students to be the best professionals they can be, in the fields of Energy, Geology, Metallurgy, Mining, and Environmental Engineering. Creating graduates who can adapt to constant technological changes and meet the growing social demands in their fields. It is also intended that graduates will be inspired to continue their training at the School, taking one of the Master’s or Doctoral studies on offer, ensuring the fulfillment of the Mission, Vision, and Values of ETSIME-UPM.
- To support scientific-technical development in the field of Mining, Energy and Geological Engineering through applied research projects, in line with the demands of different industrial sectors, through a close relationship with companies and other active agents in the sector.
- To promote the continuous improvement of the Center, through the Quality System, with guaranteed compliance, evaluating the human and material resources of the Center, as well as the services that it provides.
