The ‘MAXAM Chair  for Explosive Technology’ at the ‘Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Minas y Energía’ of the ‘Universidad Politécnica de Madrid’, aims to facilitate knowledge and disseminate training on all facets of explosives, including their: properties, manufacture, transport, storage, use, applications.

Amongst the activities to achieve these objectives is the Business-University collaboration ‘blasting solutions...’ that this year, 2017, takes over from the ‘Mineral of the month...’, which was the previous joint project between the MAXAM Foundation,  the  MUMI , and the  University Museums of the ETSIME-UPM.  During 2015 and 2016 the ‘Mineral of the Month’ project served to spread the societal importance of minerals and their applications in our daily life. Highlighting the necessary actions for the sustainable development of their exploration, extraction and processing.

Because of the success achieved in previous years, Blasting Solutions...(2017) aimed to use the interest generated as a tool of dissemination, amongst visitors to the University Museums (colleges, institutes, social centers, universities...) and all participants in our activities, such as the monthly ‘Mercadillo de Minerals, Fossils and Gems’, ‘Expominerales Madrid’, and the multiple workshops that are organized in our museums. This project is oriented around the engineering projects, as well as all the technology, necessary to obtain the minerals and raw materials that the world requires for its development, in a sustainable way.  

All explained in a fun and understandable way.
